Famous Works


The most famous works of Anthony Minghella are The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, and also the movie Nine. The English Patient Takes place in World War II and is about a map maker and a nurse who takes him in when the map maker is severely injured and has amnesia. You take a journey through the map maker’s eyes as he starts to remember bits and pieces of his life and how he became almost dead. There is love, passion, betrayal, and torture (Hughes). As for The Talented Mr. Ripley, a young man (Ripley) played by Matt Damon is sent to Italy to bring a millionaires trouble maker son home. Though threw many attempts by Ripley to get the son home he is introduced to the other life of care free, and excitement leading to the decision that he will do anything to keep it(jhailey). Cold Mountain although did not win any awards it is still memorable. The story is about a solder and a southern lady who fall in love and are split by the war. For what they only thought would be a few weeks of separation turns into years and they both change significantly. The soldier escapes enemies and sets foot for home, while being left alone and a lady does not know how to defend herself. The ultimate goal for both is to one day be together again(Princess). The movie musical Nine is about director Guido Contini and how he is every actors dream, just by working with him can make you famous. Well that was the case his latest movies have been a disaster and he now wonders if he can ever be great again. Not only is Contini’s professional life bad his personal life his far worse. The journey to see if the once and brilliant Contini can he great again (Huggo).
